Are You Fur It, or Against It?

Few topics are more hair-raising than the controversy over fur. Is draping yourself in dead animals the height of fashion, or the depth of depravity? Celebs can afford to wear whatever they want--at least financially--but does wearing fur cost a star your respect?

Should anti-fur activists back off and let people choose for themselves, or should celebrities check their egos for the sake of the critters?

Check out our gallery of pelt-parading stars (such as Mary J. Blige, Ivanka Trump, Melanie Griffith, Goldie Hawn, Gwen Stefani, Eva Longoria, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Jennifer Garner) and let us know how you feel.

Make sure you check in throughout the week for more fur-centric galleries. We have a lot more to say on the subject, and we're sure you do too.

The perverse thing is that so many of these women who wear a tortured animal's fur on their outsides where it shows opt to wax off their own fur on parts of themselves that are not visible.

Fur is the most glamorous fashion accessory a woman can wear. Does anyone actually have a mink as a pet? So who really cares right?

I would much rather see that the pelts of useless, talentless Hollywood nobodies were being worn on the backs of celebrities, rather than the skins of dead animals.

I think we all know who I'm talking about.

Ok, some of the fur in those shots is obviously fake fur. Personally, I'm more offended by some of the other things they're wearing than the fur. And you know, if minks and rabbits suddenly developed the cognitive or physical abilities to kill, eat, or skin humans around the same time that we were all rendered into brainstems, I don't quite think that the rabbits would have an anti-human-skin campaign.

For GOD'S sake find something new to bitch about. We eat animals, why can't we wear their left over furs????????????????????????????????? Unless you want us to send them to Ethopia too. How about Africa? Our country is going into a recession, F*****g worry about more important things.

What the hell are you talking about 'Angelotown'???!!! Are you totally retarded? No fur is 'left over' - these animals (rabbits, foxes, racoons, chinchillas, dogs ,cats etc etc) are killed for one reason - for fur. They are NOT simply left over from the meat industry! People don't eat foxes and chinchillas you idiot! These animals are specifically reared for fur, in FUR FARMS. They have no purpose in life but to be kept in cages until their fur is long enough or thick enough (or whatever) to be made into a coat. They are kept in disgusting, cramped conditions and are killed in the most inhumane and painful ways imaginable. People like you who are so naive and misguided yet still make these uneducated comments disgust me. An issue as important as this deserves to be 'bitched about' to draw attention to this new craze of wearing dead animals. I still cannot believe you called fur 'left overs'. What a ****.

First, the fur in many of your photos is clearly fake, so what is the point? Secondly, if someone wants to wear fur it is their right. PETA has done a great job of publicizing, and exagerating, the negatives of fur; however, there is another side of the story. The fur industry is heavily regulated and it serves its purpose in helping to maintain healthy population levels of wild animals. Further, many pet foods are made with by-products of the fur industry, which means that we may not eat these animals but our pets do. Thirdly, many of these anti-fur types are the very same people who openly endorse abortion rights. So, we're supposed to believe that an unborn human baby somehow has fewer rights than your typical fur-bearing rodent, which most furs are made from. It's ridiculous. Find another cause to bash over people's heads, instead of rolling out this tired argument every time some semi-celebrity appears in public in something that may or may not even be real fur.

First of all, nobody is ripping the skin off these unborn fetus' while they are completely concious and aware of the pain. Secondly, if you are okay with ripping skin off of a innocent and incapable animal for your vanity, then you are sick. Fur is made not only from minks, but foxes, seals, dogs, cats, wolfs, and anyhting that moves. WE DO NOT ALL USE MEAT FROM THESE ANIMALS TO FEED OUR PETS EITHER. There are alternatives such as vegan dog food. How can you be that ignorant, selfish, and heartless? I woul bet a million bucks that if these women went to see how their beloved fur coats are made, they might think twice. I don't believe in hell, but if there was one, I know that anyone that abuses animals or children would certainly get a firts class ticket there. GET OVER YOUSELVES AND FIND A HEART.

Fur turns me on. Sorry, but it's true. I find them very sensual and sexy.

I have some comments after I read everything said above.
1. I do believe it is a person's right to wear fur. And it seems to me that people that are okay with fur usually make a more objective argument about it, and a lot of anti-fur comments I read are all about making a fur-wearer feel lousy by shooting off snide remarks which is not really a very good argument at all.
2. If I had a dog, I probably would not give him/her vegan food because dogs are natural-born carnivores and they need meet
3. I wish animals raised for fur or meat were treated better, then maybe it wouldn't be as sad.
4. And lastly I just want people to know that IF YOU ARE AGAINST FUR do not harass someone who is wearing it, please. I think that is disrespectful and not really helpful to your cause, it just makes people angry with you. Campaign against fur all you want, just don't THROW PAINT or SPIT on other people because that is completely disgusting and immature behavior.
